OK, so it's not on my '62 or '67, but I just got a replacement for my DD and it has tint on film the windows.
Guaranteed hassle from the cops if I leave it on the front side windows, so I'm going to remove all of it.
I did a Google and it appears that using a steamer works best, any of you guys have any experience removing this stuff?
What about getting the glue off the glass without scratching once the film is removed, especially with the rear defroster?
You might want to check with a window tinting shop. They probably could remove it for you without any damage. I know that here in CA. they remove it all the time for a fairly reasonable fee.
Fawn, out here we have a chain plexiglass store called "Tap Plastics". They sell a plastic bottle spray product called "film off". It works fantastic!!!! I used it on my pantera to remove the film and glue some rich goofball installed on the car many decades ago. It was probably installed right after new. The film and glue was on the inside of the glass. It took repeated sprays to get that decades old crap off, but the film off never hurt the upholstery. Just be ready with paper towels to wipe off the detritus and throw it out the door. Try film off from Tap Plastic...

... I'd take it to a professional window shop, especially removing the tint on the glass with the rear defroster, they'll be able to remove it without any damage.
I got mine off by peeling up a corner with a razor blade and the rest peeled right off. The "glue" residue wipes right off with window cleaner and razor blade where stubborn. Not hard at all.

I ended up doing the same thing after having first tried the steamer.
The steamer worked well, but I still had to go back with the razor blade and Windex to get the glue.
Without the steamer, 100% of the glue remained on the glass, but using the razor blade with liberal amounts of Windex I was able to scrape it all of.
I didn't do the back window, not sure how I would remove the glue with the defroster, obviously couldn't use a razor blade...
You should be good. I think most states just want it off your front/side windows, which I can understand. I wouldn't want to be a cop approaching the car without being able to see. My car came from Florida and everything was tinted really dark. Is that still legal there? I got a ticket the first week I had it, removed it before my court hearing, and showed the cop at the hearing and he dismissed the ticket.

It's different in La Belle Province (Quebec) with it's neo-**** polis QPPs.
