Hi, folks. I'm a relatively new C1 owner ('62). Top side/interior are in really good shape and it's 327/340 NOM runs strong. Good quality driver. My question is how to address a light coating of rusty scale pretty much covering the bottom side metal surfaces. No evidence of deep rust. Not interested in a body off just would like to make it look better and protect. Are these rust converters or encapsulators something I should consider or should I just keep it dry and leave it alone? Saw a number of old posts, wonder if there are new revelations or products. Thanks

Jim, POR-15 is a rust encapsulator that I have used on 2 cars. It works well. Some don't like it because it is very permanent and you need to be careful not to get it where you don't want it. Eastwood also makes a rust encapsulator that I have heard good things about, but have not personally used it.

X2 on POR-15. The only problem with not doing a body off is that the portions you don't treat will continue to rust. That said however, some protection of better than none. I'd recommend spraying inside the frame as well, where ever you can get it.
