Use the paperclip icon when you are typing a reply to a forum post. The icon appears in the grey region just above the text entry area where you type. Click the paperclip and on the screen that appears select the file from your computer and attach it.

If the stamp pad is rectangular in shape, the block was cast on Jan 11 1969. If it's square, the block was cast on Jan 11 1979.

Here's the pad - the shape makes it 1979 (last year the 3970010 block was cast). I've never seen that format before, although the stamp impression appears to be factory; must be some sort of Service I.D. stamp, as it's not production.

Yes, 1979 casting. If you Google V0199800 it pops up as a very common stamping found on SBC. Must be a crate engine.

This engine was in my 65 when I bought it,along with the Original motor that was on an engine stand. Was pulled years ago. I decided to tear down the Original motor was a bad camshaft which most of them had and rebuild it and put it back in the 65. Bought a 63 and the motor that is in it is a 65 vette motor. All Original from intke to pan.Was running great.Going to put that aside unless someone is interested in it.I'll Put the 010 engine in,was running great and look for a correct block.

Is 9800 the last four digits of a crate motor part number?

Based on what I saw on other sites, I am guessing

V0199800

translates to

V = Flint
01 = Month of assembly (January)
9 = Year of assembly (1979)
9800 = portion of a GM crate motor part number

Just a guess....
