This is all big block stuff...
Hooker makes two types of headers - competition and super
competition. They only make the supers for big blocks. I tried
a pair of them on my '66. They come in primary diameters of
1 7/8 and 2 1/8. The 1 7/8 seem too small for my 502, so I
tried the 2 1/8. They are BIG. They reduced my ground
clearance way too much. I think they're pretty much race only.
I bet the 1 7/8 would be really nice for a 396/427 though...
They make both types for small blocks and there have been a lot
of good comments here.
I had to put a small "dimple" in one of the 2 1/8" primary tubes to get it to clear some steering gear. Other than that, they are tight because it's a big block, but they do fit.
