Default Maintaining Maximum Future Value

I'm brand new at this C-2 deal and need some advice. Assuming I buy a numbers matching, correct car, how much, "face lifting", I.e. new interior, paint, better running gear, (assuming all numbers stay on board), is advise able? At what point have I squander or devalued a "Survivor". Better than that, what qualifies a car as a Survivor? Is the true value in an edgy all original car or in a no. matching super fresh piece?

Thanks in advance!

Survivor is a Blomington term. That states it's I think 90% all original So if you bought one and want to keep the value that would meen DONT TOUCH IT. Just drive it

I'm not driving a car with spider-webbed paint, pitted chrome or cracked dash pads just to have survivor status (I might store and show one though) therefore I make reversible modifications for driving convenience safety that can be put back if some future owner wants the car judged. Disc brake conversions, electronic ignition, 5 speed transmissions and A/C all fall in that category IMO - IF you keep the original parts.

But frank once you install those sissy mods the car is no longer a survivor or a bow tie candidate. And now the whole idea of owning one is lost in someone's idea of having a better car. Not all those cars look like junk. I know plenty of 3 and 4 star Bow tie cars that look just as good as a restored car

We are in violent agreement - which is why I said I might "store and show" one. Even if they look partially acceptable and you drive them much, at some point, you are going to be changing things that degrade the survivor status IMO.

As far as sissy mods, I drive a non-power anything, non A/C '61 5,000 miles a year in Orlando heat so I know you are referring to others. The manual disc brakes were on the car when I got it.
