Looking to replace the original starting in my 67 with a mini high torque starter cause it has issues starting when warm. The car is still in storage since it is barely 50 degrees here in wisconsin.
I am wondering if the 67 327/300 Manual trans all stock has the offset bolt pattern or the straight across?

Your starter should be offset unless a previous owner has swapped some parts around. Look at it to be sure.
In the meantime, think about cleaning, lubing your old starter. It has worked for almost 50 years and it could go that many years more with a little attention.

Thanks for getting back so fast, I tore it apart about 4 years ago when I restored the car and it worked great, still works great when the car is cold, but after i drive for 15-30 minutes it gets really sluggish and does not want to turn the car over. No parts have been replaced, they are all original. The car was my father in laws since 1969.
I vote for getting your original starter rebuilt and use it for anther 50 years. I really don't think you will gain any thing by using those new starters. unless your trying to lighten your car up for racing. and if your doing that you wont be using that 327.

I have a buddy that has been restoring C2 and C3 Vettes for quite a few years and he puts them on all his cars so he recommended it to me. says they are a lot higher torque and do not have the issues with heat. he said it was staggered as well, but seeing as the car is 2 hrs away, I wanted to make sure before I ordered it

Why do you think you need a high torque mini starter as opposed to a FLAPS replacement?
If it is the original starter, send it out for a restoration. It sounds like the main field windings need to be replaced, due to the varnish insulation failing after 47 years.
Or the solenoid needs a rebuild.

Just for you and yer buddy's info, those cars/starters when the electrical system was new didn't have hot start problems anyway. Save yer money and fix what you got.

Sounds like he's a dealer for them and is getting a kick back for selling them

Thanks for your opinions. I just looked and the pictures I took of the block when I tore the motor apart and it is the offset style.
I will purchase a mini starter for now and get the original rebuilt so I have it. The car is numbers matching so I want to make sure I save all the parts.

He is a really good guy that does it as a side job. he is more of a bang for your buck guy than keeping everything original. Definitely very intelligent. I appreciate all you comments and feedback and I am sure I will be asking more questions!!!!

So why are you hung up on mini starter. Why do you think you need one? Why wouldn't a oem replacement one work for you. Or having your oringial one rebuilt/restored and use it

To be honest I am a member of a corvette club up here in wisconsin and almost everyone that has a mid year has put one on and all the slow starting has gone away. I am definitely not going to throw the original away, just want a spare and think the mini is a good route to go.
I guess I did not think I would get as much push back on the mini starter.....

There's nothing to gain on a STOCK engine only bragging rights and lose of money. If you had a race car with high compression and other needs then yes buy one. But on a stock car you gain nothing.
It amazes me how people replace something that's gave them years of great service that's wore out over the years and replaces them and bad mouths the wore our part against there new wiz bang part

I can appreciate your point of view. I was afraid of getting a new one and having it do the same thing. I don't feel that I bad mouthed anything....I just asked about the bolt pattern and then was told what I should do with my own car. I really appreciate the help and input, I really do, but it is frustrating for me to be told what I need to do with my own vehicle. I guess it would be different if did not touch every bolt on the darn thing. Took me almost 3 years to tear down and rebuild the car, just feel that I can what I want to the car and not have to justify it to anyone.
hopefully i did not offend you, as it was not my intent as I truly appreciate your input and advice.
