Default 67BB Coolant Level

In reading a post on heater core shut off valves, I noticed a discussion of radiator overflow hoses on BB cars without a recovery tank. It sounds like the design is to allow enough room inside the tank to allow for coolant expansion when hot. What is everyone using as a good coolant level in a 427 car? My car seems to migrate to a level that leaves about 3 to 4 inches below the base of the cap. If I add more coolant, I find it later on the floor after a drive.

Thanks,

Doc

There is a line on the side tank that says to fill here cold. Follow that and if it burps out some then that should tell you where it likes to be. And if it runs in normal range it should be good

Wow, you would think that I should know that after owning the car for 44 years. I guess that I qualify for the other post about dumbest things that people do. Time to go out to the garage and look for that line.

Thanks,

Doc
