Default poverty caps

I am looking to put together a set of wheels and poverty caps and hope someone can help. I have no idea what wheels will work, I would like to use a set of repro ralleys but I am not sure what caps will fit them, anyone have any idea on where to start ? I have a local guy with some caps so I may just have to take a wheel to him and see if they fit, but if there are places that may have this info please let me know.
Thanks for the help,
Jim

Poverty caps? Haven't heard that term before. Is that like "dog dish" hub caps?

Any small center cap fitting over the center hub area covering the lug nuts. Some cars had them standard. Anything else was considered an optional wheel cover. Dennis

7" wide reproduction rally wheels from Wheel Vintiques with GM style center caps.

Late-model C1's often use 1959 or '60 Chevy sedan small caps on their painted wheels with blackwall tires. The look says SERIOUS performance.

I had these on my 61 with stock wheels. I believe they came off a Nova originally.
I've since gone back to stock.. Will probably sell these.

Yes they are called poverty caps or dog dish caps, may have other names but these I know. So still looking for an answer as to whether there are any special considerations or do we know if any cap will fit any wheel...the caps I am looking at using are not quite like those shown on SDvette's pic, those look like they go over the outside of the wheel center and the ones I am looking at / for look like they go into the inside of the center like a ralley cap does, I think they will work like the ralley cap, but I hoped someone has that info, the seller is not that far away from me so I can always take a wheel to see if they will work.

the center caps on mine go 'inside' and are generic reproductions of the 'short' GM center caps.

I believe most 'rally wheels' won't have the nubs on the outside edge like the old steel rims did. Just as Bill's later model rally caps actually attach to the inner edge of the ring around the lugs, same for the '67 style short nose caps I tried on a set of 15x6 Rallys on my 61.

I believe what I am looking to use will install within the diameter closest to the lugs as the rally caps do, I think I found some on Ebay. I will probably pick up a set of reproduction wheels to use as my rallys have some deep scratches from the trim ring mounting. I want to paint them to match the car (white) and just run the caps like the COPO cars, just a little different......
Thanks to all of you for the pictures !

i'd like to see pix of the center caps you are considering if they are different from the 2 kinds of rally center caps in the above posts.

that's kinda sorta what they reminded me of.., something off a 40s/50s chevy back when they used spring clips in the center to hold caps on. are they a specialty item or a repro of something , or...

Not sure that the ones I posted are what I want, I think they may look too much like the baby moons for what I want, but these show what I think the mount would have to look like. I will see if I can post the pic of what I want to find.... my car is also white

I really like the Dog Dish 59 caps. Saw a very nice set at a swap meet and ask the price.. Guy wanted $700. They were nice, but I may just stick with my original caps for awhile...
