On a 58 Corvette, does the black wire sit alone on one of the ammeter terminals????
I am asking because because for some unknown reason the mechanic placed one red wire with the black wire on the same terminal. Aren't all the red supposed to be on one and the black alone on the other with a fusible 30 amp link?
What side does the black wire rest on....passenger side???
That diagram is wrong. Black, by itself, goes to Drvs side(rear view) as stated. All Red wires should go on the other terminal, that's the load side. The black is the Battery source input from the solenoid battery cable stud. And yes that's where to put the short protection if desired too.
The Radio Cap is wrong too in the diagram. It should go to the left side terminal(rear view), where all Red wires go. See Sec 102 Sht 3.00 in your AIM.
edit....BTW, The AIM shows the reds and the black reversed up to 1960(I know to 59 but not sure about 60). 1961 moved the Blk to the Drvs side, but forgot to move the one Red(Lighter and harness feed) over to the other terminal. 1962 AIM corrected it all.

Not the end of the world if you hook them up backwards though. Your ammeter will just read reversed and you'll have to flip the wires on the terminals. You can't hurt anything!
