Hi guys
I had the rear end out of my 66 coupe and drained the gear oil in prep for a change. (Posi-traction) I'm really not sure what goes back in. Checked old posts and there many different opinions. I want to use the same stuff they used in 66...don't want to use any synthetic oil. Had bad experience with it and old cars. It appears A C delco 75W-90 was used. What is the correct mfg of the old oil and where do I find it. Thanks
P.S. Is the same for the tranny?
You can buy the correct lube at any Chevy dealership. You'll also need at least one and sometimes two bottles of posi additive. Afterwards find a parking lot and do some figure eights to get it mixed into the clutches. You want a tranny lube with GL-4, 75-90w should be fine.

Here are links to the GM Part Numbers available today. From Corvette Central website, although you can get just about anywhere, including Chevy Dealers. They are changed from what might be in your Owners Manual………but the oil/lube should be the same or similar.
I used the Amsoil products for both tranny and rear end -- along with their posi additive. Things quieted down in those items after the first 100 miles...
