1962 Dealer info
I am attempting to produce a replica window sticker for my 1962, for a small display board for local shows. Finding out the option number codes and prices is pretty easy and straightforward, but is there a way to find out what the destination charge would have been for delivery from St. Louis to Upstate New York in 1962? I've been told that mine has always been a "local" car, so I've been trying to research the Chevy dealers throughout the area in 1962. If the dealership is still in existence, would their Dealer Number be the same today? Anyone have an Upstate NY- delivered C1 with original documentation that can help? Thanks.

Just have these guys make one up for you...you can pick a NY dealer that may have sold your Corvette and give them your VIN, car colors and options and they'll do the rest. My repro '61 sticker came out just fine: http://www.window-sticker.com/

Too bad you didn't get a Dealer Shipping Report from NCRS when it was available. It's stopped for now due to some changes in the ranks there..
If by chance your '62 came from A & C Chevrolet in Fort Montgomery NY, contact LJ Marchese Chevrolet at 845-977-4141. They bought A&C many years ago and saved all of A&C's Corvette sales records.

I didn't think you could get the shipping report for C1s.
If so, then I missed the boat too!

Didn't know that - I did get the report for the SWC and it was sold out of Texas. The family-owned dealership is still in biz on the same spot and talked to the owner for 45 minutes one night.
He sent me pictures of the old dealership and a license plate emblem (the last one he knows of) from the '60s that's on the car now ... helluva guy...

Thanks for the replies, everyone . . . Very helpful, as this forum usually is. Frankie, I have seen the WindorSticker.com reproductions, and that would certainly fit the bill, especially for what is just a replica for display purposes only. ironcross's photo of a "real" 1962 window sticker points out the differences in appearance between a real sticker and a modern reproduction pretty clearly. Nice car, by the way - those wheels look just right on there. I was thinking of joining the NCRS, and taking advantage of their documentation services - they are still showing up on their web site, are they not doing this any more? My 1962 is #6768 so it looks like it would make the cut for what information they have (or had) available. There were not a tremendous amount of Chevrolet dealers in Upstate New York in 1962 that sold an appreciable number of Corvettes, I have tracked down all the info for one of the major ones in downtown Syracuse including the zone and dealer number. I still have no idea on the destination charges, I've seen 1962 stickers listing anything from just over 25 bucks to a few hundred. Obviously it must depend on how far the dealer was from St. Louis. I think I may play with this a bit more on my own, I have a blank 1962 window sticker template downloaded. Again, thanks for the help, and anyone else who would like to chime in is certainly welcome.

Yeah - I make no bones that my repro sticker looks like the original (e.g. Ironcross's example). Its one way it "keeps things honest" as anybody that knows about these cars will question mine straight away due to its pristine, lilly-white state and wrong font. Its strictly a novelty for car shows.
You could certainly make up a destination charge and 99% of folks won't know the difference. I've had people argue with me about the charge on the sticker for "permanent antifreeze" because they can't believe a dealer would charge for that...they haven't a clue...

David, Your Vin#6768 is listed on the Corvette Registry C-1. It has the dealer code and birthdate of your car listed. Prior owner from Georgia posted the info. You gotta love a Red/Red corvette!

John, do you have a link to that info? As far as I can tell, my car has always been Fawn Beige in and out, and I don't think it was ever from Georgia. Sure we're talking about the same car?

David, My mistake on the color, I was looking at other cars. Google search corvetteregistryc1. Click on model year 62 from the drop down and scroll down to your serial number. Shows owned by David Reeves and fawn beige/fawn beige. Click on the serial number and it brings up the info.
