Default Differential id help

Need a little help here guys. Purchasing a differential to install in my 64 for a long trip across the USA next month. Have a 4:11 with a six speed in the car now and want to install a 3:08 for the trip. The differential I am looking at to purchase has the following info and what I need to know is will this unit work in my 64? My 53 to 71 GM parts book is of little use in deciphering the #s on this unit. So here is the info off the differential.
Diff housing stamp-AWW 158 EI.
68-69 & 71 have this AW for a 3:08 posi HD unit. 71 is not an HD diff but has the AW for the 3:08 code.
Cast #3899143
Date E 28 5 (1975?)

Cover cast # 3871375
Date A 8 5 (1975?)
Axle Yoke-3872923 with bolt on caps
Pinion yoke has bolt on U joint caps

Carrier unit-Eaton # 32287PM1
Ring gear # 3756448 GM 12 37 5 75 1
What do I have here and will it do the job in my 64?
Thanks
Billy

That's a 1975 3.08, and it'll work fine for you. You'll need a conversion U-joint to match up the end of your driveshaft to the larger pinion yoke.

John
Could I use the pinion yoke from the 64 Differential and use the same size U joint as the existing one?
Thanks
Billy
