Does anyone have any suggestions as to which adjustable shocks could give my 427 66 Vette a great ride? I need a shock that can be adjusted at my front springs without difficulty? Dutch
Look, you don't have to go to any type of adjustable shock. I used an overload shock from a 1960's Grand Prix. (Might have been a 63 unit but I won't swear to that.) All you have to do is hone out the lower A frame (minor amount) and cut the enclosed tabs off of the shock. They will vit right in with no other modifications. I did this to both my 66 Chevelle SS when I owned it and to my corvette. Simply find out what the number of the shock is for the vette and take it to the local parts store. It took me a while but I found the car that had the same non overload shock that the vette did and checked to find a vehicle that was listed as having the overload for it. I did my car this way back in 1981 or so and it still rides smooth. Just a thought.
I run QA-1 shocks as Scott mentioned. Dial it at the lowet setting and it floats down the road like a Buick Lasabre. Dial it all the way to the top and it rides like a goat cart. I found the number 3 click to be about perfect for my day to day driving.
There about 150.00 each, so 600.00 for a set. They are rebuildable.
