Hi, does anyone know what the best way to remove the fuse clips that hold the fuse in place. There is two tabs that need to be pushed together but I am worried that to much force when pushing will break the plastic fuse panel. Has anyone done this . Is there a tool for this type of clip.
Thanks, Wes.
If you're talking about the metal clips that hold the fuse in, and you are trying to bend to make them fit tighter, you can just bend them with a small screwdriver or needle nose pliers. You can actually bend them with your fingers for that matter. If you have to bend them enough to break the fuse box, something else is going on. The contacts are soft and can be bent.
I just went through this with my 64.
I have the tool to remove the clips but even with the tool it was not that easy. I also used two small screw drivers that I ground down to fit the slots and turned both of them slightly to push the clips in and then I pushed down and the clip came out.
This is the fuse panel out of my 64 that I replace some of the clips.

Hi Joe, thanks for your reply. Can you send me a picture of the tool that you received with your fuse box. Also did you get any info on the removal of the clips on the plug- in's that plug into the fuse box ( The engine harness ) Thanks, Wes
So, is that what you're wanting to do, remove the entire clip to replace? That's a little tougher. Any chance it would be easier to get a new fuse box?
