My Borg Warner has 60-63 side cover, 60-61 tail and 59-60 main case. (Was it a common practice to put together a tranny from available parts?) At any rate, the gears look great-no chips-reverse gear is not rounded out. I want to replace seals and bearings before putting it in my 59 and could use a manual or directions for a rebuild. Thanks 59 navy

All of the components with the dates you listed were available as new parts on the line at B-W in 1960, so there's nothing unusual about them being combined in the same 1960 transmission. Or, in the intervening 50 years, it may have been rebuilt several times.
There's an entire chapter in the 1960-61-62 Passenger Car Shop Manuals on rebuilding the B-W 4-speed; it's not covered in the ST-12, as that component is shared with the passenger car. The NCRS on-line store at www.ncrs.org has those manuals.
