Relocation
I shipped my 63 down there 4 weeks ago on Reliable after getting a bait and switch routine from United. It just didn't feel right at all. I was at peace as soon as I spoke with Reliable and then the driver (Larry).
Any Gold Canyon vette guys on this forum?
We get around 250-275 Corvettes from all over and it makes for a great weekend. http://www.prescottvettesette.org/carshow.htm

As a side note to another subject brought up:
I would like to do the Prescott show, but it is the same weekend as the much larger and more diverse Run to the Pines show, in Pinetop, AZ.
When I sent the Prescott people a polite e-mail asking them about possibly changing the weekend of their 6 year old show (they let me know that they have been doing that show that weekend for 6 years, ya'know), they sent me a somewhat snotty e-mail telling me to have Run to the pines change their ( 30 year old) show instead.
It reminded me of why I generally like the streetrod crowd better than the Corvette crowd.

In fact I have done most all of the car and it is drivable now. I did have the cluster done by Jason back when they had the bad hurricane on the east cost a couple years back, and while it looks great not much works well on it.
What I will be looking for is a good paint guy.
I'll be in the Gold Canyon area which is just east of Apache Junction on 60. I have a house there now but we'll sell it and buy a permanent place (I mean 4+ car garage, pool, view, etc.)

I am in Redlands area of California and many people ask me about Corvette people that fix these old cars. Is Tom Mischke one of them? Does he have a shop, or just work out of his home? What kind of work does he do?

He knows all the right chrome and polishing and upholstery people, and does meticulous work, without taking forever, or getting too expensive by letting hours "accumulate" on the project, while it sits there.
He restored a couple Corvette that were damaged when the tent blew down at BJ a few years ago. This one midyear convertible, looked like it had been rolled at speed, windshield pushed flat, (that canvas is heavy and abrasive) and scratch all the chrome and stainless and sanded the paint off the fender top, and a few months later, it looked brand new.
He does resto work, mostly body panel replacement and mechanical assembly, i don't think he does much general mechanical work, but you can ask. He farms out the paint, and interior to two other shops in Mesa.

Other than the two Goodguys shows, there is a show in Yuma in March, two Cruise on Centrals in Phoenix, a couple weeks before Goodguys, Payson last weekend in April, Run to the Pines, in late September, a Tuscon area show sometime, and Flagstaff in early September.
The rest are generally all small local shows, that may, or may not happen, and vary by date each year.
Of course, if 95% of the cars that are going to show up, haven't been paid off yet from being financed by GMAC, there is probably not much conflict with shows that limit their attendance to 1980 or earlier, or 1973 or earlier cars.
Run to the Pines is a 3 days show, with 550 cars in attendance from 1903, up to 1973, on the grass at the Pinetop country club, the last weekend in September. Prescott is not losing many attendees, there are maybe 20 Corvettes '72 and earlier that show up, but it would be nice if event organizers (no matter what event) didn't just pick a time at random without checking for established show conflicts first.
