Default Door Locks 66 Vette ?

OK after I got my NCRS ready "emphasis" on ready I found that the Ignition key didnt open the vdoor locks that had no separate key either.... and no key for Glove Box or Non Existant Spare Tire...Lock.
Switched out Ignition/ Glove/ Added Spare Tire Lock/ and both door locks.( That attempt to use a rubber gasket problem was a B... Do NOt USE ONE! )Thanks to the Heads Up from you all on that.

? is Passenger Door can be Locked by either key or Inside Lock while door is open and then after you shut the door >>> it STAYS LOCKED.
Try that on Drivers Side and it reverts to UNLOCKED upon shutting. NORMAL or passenger is not normal ? Are either or Both supposed to stay Locked upon Closing ? If so how to fix? Thanks

It should unlock when you close the door unless you hold the door button in while closing the door.

Yep, gotta set the lock and then keep/hold the button in WHILE shutting the door. This was common for most old school cars in general.

OK then Drivers is CORRECT as You Must Hold Door Lock Outside Button IN when closing to keep closed after closing by key or inside Lock/////Passenger Door tho WILL STAY Locked even if NOT holding Button down upon closing..Is that Abnormal? Thanks

Yes, that is abnormal. The locks on both doors should work the way the one on your driver's door does.

As for how to fix it, I don't know. I figure the doohickey has somehow gotten disconnected from the whatsus. Or, as Bobby Allison said to Chris Economaki after limping his broken Chevy into the pits, "Something's broke."

1. Buy a new reproduction set of all three matched from one of the forum vendors, or

2. Find an old locksmith with the proper parts to re-key whichever one(s) need to be changed to match the other(s).

Having your car "NCRS Ready" is a great achievement. Having said that... it's really kind of ridiculous locking these cars anyway. A real thief can get in a C2 in less than 10 seconds. I purposely don't lock mine. Good insurance is the best theft solution.

IF they're going to steal the car, but locking the doors will at least keep some clown from sitting in my car, rummaging through the glove box or snagging my cigarette lighter 'cause maybe he or his buddy might need one.

I didnt want them to Lock because of "Theft worries".../ I wanted them to Lock because they should. I changed out all 5 Locks Get the Deluxe Kit including Spare Tire lock// Not because some one is gonna steal the Spare but just because and just in case... Glove and Spare tire Easy Swaps of Lock Set as is Ignition swap Switch/ Doors took a bit more effort but all are Keyed alike and all work even tho The Hex Head key should only do Ignition and Doors and Round Head do Glove Box an Spare Tire but at this point as long as ALL are Keyed alike Im good with it...
