I am trying to find a 62 roadster am am looking for information on who to hire to conduct an appraisal. Im an infant on the matching numbers game. Any recommendations? Are there any sites that are particularly infamous?
I would like to identify an expert to hire and have his details worked through before I start traveling. It seems that as soon as something good hits the market it is snapped up in a few days. I am a serious buyer that knows little of what would make a good or at least reasonable deal. Thanks for any help you and the community can provide. Ron
This is vague. Do you want someone to inspect a car and provide a report? If so, where is the car?
Maybe you want a 62 wingman to call upon immediately when you hear of a car to tell you what it is worth so you can jump or not?
Few of these cars come with a comprehensive enough ad and photos to know the worth without close up inspection.
Sorry for my lack of clarity. Let me try again. I would like to identify an expert to tell me what he thinks would be a fair offering price for a 62 once I identify one that interests me. I see apparently equivalent vettes all over the map in pricing. I recognize an appraiser will not be able to provide an opinion from ad photos and descriptions. I will have to put he, me and the vette together. I would prefer not to have to look for such a person on short notice. I want to have some established relationship with an appraiser prior to spending money on a site visit. Can anyone recommend such an individual? Or, am I missing the point and going about this all wrong? I had not considered a wingman concept but I would certainly appreciate any help from a forum lister. Thanks in advance.

You might be very wise indeed to line up an inspector in advance; however, you might need more than one inspector depending on where the car is located.
I think I understand your request, and it is a great idea to have someone lined up and ready to act. I've done this for others in the past and it's imperative to get the jump on a pre-purchase inspection.
However, the caveat is simply this......it all depends on where the car is located. You would have to have dozens of people lined up and ready at short notice, a truly insurmountable task. If you lined up one person in Arkansas, the car would be in Oregon, etc etc.
I'd recommend this....Contact Jim Gessner, (vettefinderjim.com, email jim@vettefinderjim.com) a member here on CF and a longtime NCRS member, and Corvette "Finder" for people all over the world. He has contacts everywhere. He can also be contracted to help you find one, and if so, he can likely find someone to help with the inspection on short notice.

You might also want to contact Chuck Berge for East Coast cars. He lives in Virginia. Top Notch ++. His company does Corvette Consultations and Appraisals. 703-754-1960 or 703-629-0206. He is not inexpensive, but he is one of the best.
