Default Bloomington Gold Moved to Indianapolis Speedway

The Bloomington Gold will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 2015. I think another thing that the are doing to kill the show is now they will not let parts vendors have a titled runnable car on your swap space For Sale. They want it in the Car Coral. Not being able to be in 2 places at one time I will no longer be having spaces at there event. You can not watch you parts if you are trying to sell a car in the car coral and you can not watch your car if you are in the swap parts boot and some one is taking off your gas cap and lighter. It looks like to me they chose the best place to hold the event but they are driving off all the vendors. This my be the straw that broke the camels back or the event that killed Bloomington Gold finally. They have been trying to do it for years by moving from spot to spot to spot. Now this. Sorry not for me. I will not be there as a vendor.

I'm glad to see it move to Indy. I think it will be a big plus to have it at the track. Lots of hotels, restaurants, etc. I don't believe it will kill BG though not having a car for sale in the swap meet area. There's not that many vendors with cars in their spots. Happy to see it moving closer to us. I've already made reservations.

Mike
I agree with you 100% I see a lot of venders that also bring cars for sale and they can't be in two places at once. I guess it's all about the money and the hell with the event.

I already made reservations, too. Im not sure why they changed the rule to not having cars in a swap area; maybe they want to corrall to be bigger. I seriously doubt that detail will kill anything, though. If enough vendors complain about it, they will change it back. I'm going to guess they actually want the event to succeed.

One time in the 80s they actually split the show into 2 events a month apart. We all told them it was insane. It was a disaster and they switched it back the following year.

I posted this information about BG moving to indy. At first I thought it would be a good deal till I found out the below..

I live in Greenwood, just 20 min from the track and I will not be going any more as a vendor. Bloomington Gold gas a rule now that you can not have a CAR on your Vendor Booth Space FOR SALE. It has to be in the Car Coral. How the hell do they think one person who brings a car and parts F/S can be in 2 places at he same time watching there things they are trying to sell. I know od several Vendors that probably not attend because of that. I think they are trying to KILL the show and they are doing a good job of running people off. Look at Champaign last year. Attendance there SUCKED BIG TIME. That was the lowest amount of people I have seen at a Bloomington Gold Show ever. It just keeps going down and down and down. I would think they would want to fill up the Vendors spaces then not fill them. Heck even last year the Vendors that were in Champaign were down a lot from years past. They are doing it there self and it will not be to many more years and there will no longer be a Bloomington Gold. And that is a shame .

"Bloomington gold". In indiana? Well there IS a bloomington indiana....so. Hmmm. I dont get it. Sure a show at the speedway would be cool. But the Bloomington Gold show? I did a gold cert back in the late 90's and i think it was like 100.00. Now i hear its like 500 or 600? Holy freaking cow. Also they have new stamp rules on motors. There are SO many restmped cars out there i guess you might as well just admit it and go on. Otherwise there are only so many old corvettes to judge. After all these years most have been thru the process. I agree with the one fellow on here. Bloomington shows days are numbered. Moving it to Indy is a sure sign of that. The bar keeps getting raised higher and higher on judging. It was over the top when i did it 20 yrs ago. By now it must be just ridiculous. Id never go thru all that again. It wasnt worth it. Stress city, and the money to get a gold? My wife thankfully never added it all up.
