Default Horn problem

I reattached my steering column in my 65 convertible today after replacing/fixing a lot of stuff in the cluster and then getting a new turn signal switch to replace the broken one in the steering column. When I put together the new switch on the column, I tested the horn by shorting the ring in the switch to ground, the horn blared. Good.

But when I put the whole thing back together, argh, the horn does not work. I believe all the parts were put back, but I likely missed something or put something in wrong. Here is a picture of the horn ring and then one of the steering column with the horn ring off:

First, it seems to me that the little bracket on the horn ring should always touch the part attached to the steering column (the little button); and that should touch the ring down at the switch below. But I think neither of those parts touch anything. What part am I missing, or did I assemble wrong? It seems to otherwise be perfect..

thanks, as always,

Mark

Here's some info: Scroll to the last picture, your hub appears to not be aligned with the mark, but I can't say what's up without seeing it better

I can't tell what position your wheels are in, but my recollection is with the wheels straight, the horn button is around 2 o'clock.

Thank you. With my wheels straight, the horn button is at 10 o'clock more or less. That is probably the problem.

I fixed the hub, but the steering column was not far enough in, so the horn did not make contact. It is fixed now. Thanks for your help.
