Is this the car you're talking about?
Looks like it sold for 139,000 even without original motor.
Very nice looking car though.
with a born with matching numbers car, (engine, trans, etc), born with tank sticker, original bold on wheels, and notable restoration (nabers/thorpes/etc restoration), car would bring 250k + IMHO.

how much value each of these adds, ?????

I don't know what the brouhaha is...

We all know sellers are going to put the best face on their wares they possibly can short of fraud in most cases. If that means some subtle wording to imply something that isn't actually true - there is nothing new in that.

"Caveat Emptor" is a Latin phrase....its in a dead language because that is how far back this whole 'buyer beware' thing goes...

To assume anything from that statement is foolish.

Default 3 side questions from a newbie

Unashamedly, I ask these 3 uninformed questions:

Where on the frame is the 1966's VIN # stamped?
Where on the Muncie tranny is the VIN # stamped, if so?
Where does one look to see if the tank sticker is still on the 1966?

Sorry if my ?'s interrupt this thread.
Thanks, guys, for enlightening me.

P.S. - My pride did not taste too awful bad going down.

Your 66 doesn't have a tank sticker to find.

The practice started with the 67 model year.

Even tank stickers have come into question due to the many fake ones being offered (usually for highly optioned big block cars). It's become necessary to have your documents verified now days..there's so much money at stake that simply being satisfied with one isn't nearly enough today.

Thanks, Bowlerdude, for your prompt response.

One less thing to obsess about with this girl!
Now if I can find the VIN # on the frame and Muncie, I can put those mysteries to bed & move on to the next "thing".
