Default Frame painted!

I reached a huge (for me) milestone today. Got some finish paint on my frame. After a lot of hand wringing and second guessing about rust removal I am moving on to re-assembly. Will be mounting the differential support and fuel tank cross member any time I fell like it now! Haha... It feels great to be moving past this point. The rust removal, welding and prep for paint was the source for high anxiety. Thanks to all for the information and support (many threads read with contributions from so many).

That's awesome, keep the journal coming with pics. What paint did you choose to use? I am watching your rebuild and a couple others to plan my frame off down the road. Congrats! Looks really good.

It's almost shame most of it will be covered up. At least you have the pics. Nice work!

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments! I used John Deere blitz black. It was readily available and I heard was a good match. Not sure if I need another coat. I went over it a couple times at least going front to back so I'm thinking it's good to go. Makes a heck of a mess in the garage with the doors closed and heat running.

I did coat the inside with Eastwood internal frame coating rust prevention. As long as this exterior paint holds up I feel like it should be in good shape. Lots of small parts to finish now.

That would be great Tom. I will need to see driving cars for ongoing motivation and to learn all the tricks of getting this back together. Keep in touch.

Frame looks very good. I recently used that Eastwood product to coat the inside of the rockers and doors of my daily driver (I have the only rust-free GMT800 truck in the Midwest and want to keep it that way) and was very impressed with it. I plan to use it on the frame and birdcage of my 67 as well (added plus that the color is very close to the factory green zinc dichromate primer).

Well the sandblaster did what they could, then I blew it out with air. The Eastwood product is supposed to encapsulate the rust. Not sure how effective it will be but it felt good to apply it. Better than nothing I suppose.

Gregg,
I'm sure the frame will last for as long as you own the car, then it will be someone else's problem, or not. By the way, Merry Christmas, and if you find you need an extra set of hands, feel free to call on me.
Tom
