Found Race Corvette
My wife & I have just discovered we are the owners of the 1964 red corvette coupe Laurie Craig raced/won at Westwood race track, BC and others in the mid 1960's. There are several Westwood videos on the web with this car racing. Mr. Craig told us personally that Stirling Moss also drove this corvette around the Westwood track.
We are seeking any additional information & pictures concerning this corvette and Mr Laurie Craig.

That's a nice fuelie '64 Corvette.
Would love to know more of the story; how did you find out? Are any remnants of its racing days still on the car?
(BTW, my '64 was built 3 weeks after yours.)

Nice find. Get in touch with Jim Gessner here on the Corvette Forum. He and Wayne Ellwood track old Corvette race cars. Yours deserves to be in the Registry of Corvette Race Cars.

You have to be very careful about what you do to this car. Too many people have restored race cars back to street cars. Then others have turned perfectly good race cars into show queens.

Very cool story!
Good luck with your research on the car's history. I know the excitement you feel each time you uncover more information. I've been lucky enough to help a gentleman in Idaho research the history of an old '32 Ford hot rod that a friend of mine built back in the early 1950's. It has been very gratifying each time we locate someone who knew the car or, even better, had photos they could share.
By the way, our car was built 32 cars after yours.

Melting Slicks
Westwood was just across the border from me and we used to go up there in the 60s and 70s. It was a popular track but succumbed to housing development expansion in early 90s. It was sad to lose this scenic and challenging venue. Do you know what years your Corvette raced there?

Race Director
Jim, Laurie Craig didn't race his Corvette in the 67 Kent WA Trans-Am. He was driving a 67 Z/28 in that race.
Corvettes weren't legal in the TA, until the mid-70's. The original Trans-Am was built around SCCA A Sedans, and to be legal they needed to be a sedan with a back seat.
I assume that Chevrolet came to Craig, or his sponsor Mander Chevrolet, and asked him to replace the Corvette with a new Z/28. Chevrolet did this with Gary Morgan from NY, and many of the people racing AP and BP Corvettes at that time. In 67, Chevrolet was trying to get as many loyal Chevrolet road racers into Z/28's, as they possibly could. The Camaro was new in 67, and Chevrolet wanted them on the race track, racing in Trans-Am and A Sedan.
The link below is from the Camaro Research Group (CRG) website. About halfway down the page is some information on Laurie Craig, as well as pictures of his Camaro, and a Chevy II (!) he road raced.

Car is very original . Was not modified much for racing. Talked personally with the owner/ racer Laurie Craig and he confirmed all about car. We have discovered at least 12 owners so far. Apparently no one was aware of the cars winning race history except Mr Craig.
We will be flying over to interview Mr Craig personally on video. He also has original GM spare parts for the vette. We have searched constantly for 2 1/2 years for car history .Hard work & Very Lucky!!
