I was emphatically told by a retired doctor that he owns a 1967 corvette, that he bought new and still has it, that came with a 454 engine. I told him that 427ci engines were the largest that came from factory in 1967 corvette. He said that there were just a few with 454ci engines came out. Can anyone confirm this? I think he's a little bit of a BSter and really don't even think he has a corvette, as he told me it is on loan to the Bowling Green corvette museum.

Ask to see the car. Then look at the engine pad and take down the numbers. Also the cylinder case casting number and date. That should tell the story of what he has and if it is original to the car.
Hopefully you don't find a 327/300 HP engine sitting in there when you look.

This is why I NEVER rely on owners word of mouth. Sometimes they forget, are confused or lie. Paper work real paperwork.

I did say I'd like to stop down to his house and look at it and then he looked puzzled & said it was on loan to the Bowling Green Corvette Museum - amagine that!

Ask him for the car's location in the museum. Tell him one of your Corvette friends will go up there to check it out for him for free.
