I'm continuing a mini restomod job on the interior of my 63 coupe. I am removing/storing the original instrument panel and replacing it with a fabricated panel equipped with Speedhut gauges and new switches. My immediate challenge is to figure out how to adapt the wiring at the headlight switch to a toggle switch. I've figured out which wires carry unfused+12v to the switch, and which carry power to the headlights/dimmer, parking lights, tail lights, dash lights and courtesy lights. I've also noted a wire from the fuse panel that also carries +12v to the switch. I assume the unfused power goes to some circuits (e.g., headlights) and the fused power goes to others (e.g., dash lights). Can anyone tell me specifically which power goes where?
Update
I found a web site regarding the light switch for a Chevy truck from the early 60s. It included a diagram indicating the unfused +12v went through the headlight switch to the dimmer/headlights and to a fused line to the panel lights. It showed the fused +12v going through the headlight switch to the front and rear parking lights. I suspect that is how it worked for my Corvette too. If anyone can confirm or refute this understanding, please chime in.
