Default Window operation

The operation of my roll up windows is quite difficult. I assume that I have to get inside of the door to the window regulator and guide channels and somehow lubricate them...is this correct? And, are there any videos available that show this operation?

Hope you guys dont get tired of all the NooB questions

I don't get tired of the questions IF you post the year car you are working on - none of us are mind readers and the door/window ***'y between generations is vastly different...makes a diff if its a coupe vs convertible too...

Yes, you are correct. Meant to do that. It's a 1961, convertible, late production VIN 110012

It could be worn or dry regulators - often the felt in the rear channel comes unglued or 'rolls up' in the rear channel and makes cranking the windows tough...and yes - that means taking the doors apart. Fairly complex task on C1s and C2s... Sometimes the front channel trim can interfere with things. Try taking a strong flashlight, and, with the window down, look rearward to the rear channel and see if you can locate the felt and its condition - you may not be able to see it. Then check for any interference in the front area (see pic).

I was afraid you were going to say something like that! Was hoping for a quick lithium grease fix

I edited my post above so you may want to look at it again - you can deal with the rear felt and front channel issues without removing the regulator. If that doesn't do it then, yes there are videos for R&Ring the regulators:

Also one quick thing you could try - there is a big Philip's head screw at the back of the door at the bottom to adjust the angle of the rear channel...you could try loosening that to let the rear channel float then raise the window up and down and see if its easier. If so then it might just be an adjustment. If so, lower the window completely down and snug the screw back up and try it again; you would have gotten lucky if this was the only problem though - I doubt it.

The adjustment for the rear channel is in the red circle. If you DO have to take the doors apart do not even attempt it without an AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) for 1961....and the ST-12 manual is also a good reference...that is online now for free:
