Default Classic ’65 Corvette Totes 36-Gallon Fuel Tank

Compared with the C7, which features an 18.5-gallon tank, this rare 1965 C2 sports a 36-gallon fuel hauler, almost double that of the new Stingray.

I'd rather have the range. More of a pain always having to pull over and get gas. Especially with a thirsty V8! A gallon of fuel costs the same regardless of how big the fuel tank is.

Default Big tank

This 65 big tank was an export build that went to Sweden when new, I believe. It has a speedometer in Kilometers. its a 300hp and automatic. Restored by Nabor brothers 20 years ago and was in the Bloomington Gold Special Collection one time too.

Pain? The C2 seats (especially '63-'64) cause many drivers to get "numb-***" every couple of hours anyway (that's why I put C4 seats in mine 30 years ago).

A base C7 gets about the same range on half the gas, 30 mpg highway. And you can USE it non-stop in that EXCELLENT cockpit environment.

I would welcome that tank in my 57 for the convenience of filling it only a few times a year BUT, if I needed it,

I would install a 4 cylinder Honda engine!

I have a 91, it's rather cozy once I'm in there. And IT is a pain to get in and out of!

The 1954-1957 300SL came equipped with a 130 liter (34 gallon) fuel tank as standard equipment. With the spare wheel and tire mounted atop the tank there wasn't much room left in the trunk except for soft luggage items.

Yes and with the 36 gallon tank it will go almost as far as the C-7 goes on 18.5 gallons. Pretty car though.

They forgot to post the most important shot, that of the tank cover itself.

Yeah, how much gas you burn on a Sunday drive has nothing to do with how big the gas tank is...

Misleading article is misleading.

The "business end" of a tanker.

I'm amazed that for a performance option considered at the time to be somewhat of a failure, these big tank cars have really become quite the collectables.

Yeah, that L88 "performance option" was a worthless turkey in '67, only TWENTY dummies bought 'em!
