I am ready to install a radiator, core support and fan shroud in a 1966 427. What is the correct procedure? Do they all go in as a unit or are there any "tricks" I should know about? It just seems so tight. Also should the fan already be on or can it be installed later?
Thanks
I can't speak to the tricks or steps of the install of the shroud/support of a 427, but I do know you want to install the fan last. Did you have any shims between the rad support and the body? If so make sure you get them placed correctly. Dennis
I put the support in, then the shroud, but, I left the shroud loose and tipped towards engine...then inserted the rad and then put the shroud against rad and put in the center top bolt/bracket...all loosely done then put on the side shroud bolts...then tightened it all up...also, put on the lower rad hose before you tighten things up...
When the body hit the body drop at the factory the shroud was already placed on the engine. It was loose and pushed toward the engine. The radiator support and radiator were mounted on the body before it dropped onto the frame. Then the shroud was bolted up. You can basically duplicate that process if you are installing the support.
