1954 Chevrolet Corvair Show Car
Saw this car at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance March 15. This is a recreation of the 1954 Chevrolet show car named Corvair. As you can see it is based on a Corvette with a small block V8. I have never heard of the Corvair show car before and I am surprised that the name was repurposed in 1959 for Chevrolet's economy car.

That car will always be near and dear to me. I did a ton of thinking and planning before and during the build. Hardly a thing I would change. Came out nice. Mike has a wonderful car.

It had to be very gratifying for you two to see the car sitting on the lawn at Amelia Island as an invited guest, complete and shining in the sun, looking just as good as you hoped it would. Winning two major awards was just the icing on the cake. Great car, and a great success story.

I do not see Brett or I in the pic so we may have been out looking at cars ourselves. We had an outstanding time building the car and Brett did put a ton of thought into this car before we even started taking the 54 apart to build the Motorama car. Brett would always think ahead on what we needed to do and how we should go about getting done what we wanted. I wish you would have looked us up it is always nice to meet fellow member from the Forum. We did have several members from the Forum that were there and stopped and said Hi and introduced there self. Thanks for posting the pic of the car. This event was the first time the car had been seen in public of complete pic of the finished car. We are looking at taking the car to other Concourse Events this year.

Hi Roy. The hubcap centers are front nose emblems, just as the original car wore.
We wanted the V8 265ci to look like an early development motor, so we dated the engine components and accessories Nov-Dec 53. That's why we painted the engine the standard 1953 Blue/Green, as all engines were painted in 1953.
We weren't trying to fool anyone. We just had fun putting out own spin on the build. The stamp pad is EX4611. Mikes vin number is 4611.
