the numbers on bro n laws 59 waterpump are GM27 3782608 F23 9.The engine is out of a 65-66 truck but I want to order a rebuild kit for the pump but I'm not sure what I have.Help much appreciated. Eddie
All small block water pumps use the same kit. The '608 is a common pump housing for the application as it has no provision for a upper bypass nipple. Technically it was used on the '63-'65 base engines, but will work fine for the '56-'60 engines as no bypass was used. IIRC the '493 casting pump was used in '59.
Most suppliers of Corvette parts have kits available. e.g. .......
However, the shaft diameters of ALL new kits are not identical to original nor past replacement kits. This changed over the last year or so, as I surprisingly discovered a few months ago.
They can be tricky to rebuild .... The '608s are plentiful and fairly cheap (unlike some other SBC water pumps) if you just want to get one already rebuilt by a reputable seller:
