Bruce,
I checked this show after the OP's post and I'm considering going. Do you attend or plan to attend?
Rick
Rick... It's been around 10-12 years since being there the last time. The show is very cool, the trip over the bridge in a line of endless corvettes is awesome. I have given it a good thought about going this year, but there are so many things going on at that time of the year for me. I may have to wait until mid summer to know for sure if I would be able to attend the show.
As a matter of fact, we are in the midst of a 1500 trip right now! We left Nashville, TN last week and we're cruising around south GA and northern FL for a few weeks. Our 66 L79 3.70 consistently gets about 16 mpg cruising at maybe 2700 rpm all day long. The sound from the side pipes is so sweet! I installed a Steeroids non-power kit just before the trip and love the new feel. As a bonus, I'll be ordering a 2016 ZO6 as soon as we get back home. It is so cool to cruise all of these backroads in a classic car!!!!
Sounds nice. If you can duck I-4 and I-95 and get to either Florida coast and just cruise the coastal secondary roads in this glorious weather its a lifetime memory in a classic Corvette.
I guess I'm a wuss. I only drive my 62 fuelie with the original 4.56 in it on shorter drives. However, I drove from Milwaukee to Steamboat Springs Coloradonand back in my other 62 fuelie with 3.55 in it. I highly recommend it!

Um, Mike, as I recall that's not the only long drive you've made with a '62. I seem to remember you buying a '62 (which later turned out to have great provenance) and immediately embarking on a long trip home with this unknown/untested vehicle.
I drove from Kansas City to Lake Tahoe, Nevada (went to Hot August Nights) about 3000 miles in our '57 with 3:36 gears.... old car/old guy
so lots of stops to fuel-up/drain bladder. Drove legal speed limit mostly.
Only problem was voltage regulator.... otherwise a total blast.
PS: copilot wife also had a ball.
