Default Adding transistor ignition

I would like to add an original transistor ignition system to my 67. It's an original small block car but now has a big block. I have the correct parts to do the conversion (dist, amplifier, TI harness) but am wondering if everything will be a direct plug in or will it require cutting any of the original wiring harness or wire ends (I don't want to cut any of the original wiring ). I'm sure others have made this conversion..........................I even searched the archives for information but couldn't find any answers to my specific questions.

As always, thanks in advance for your input.

Rex

There will be several cuts to the engine harness to install T.I. connectors - they're shown in section K-66 in the A.I.M.

if you have the complete TI harness you just disconnect the original and install the TI harness. use the 64-65 wiring. GM changed the 66 and up so it would be harder to short out the amp of you grounded out the coil input

Rex, As John said the AIM UPC K66 A3 information will give you the interconnects.

You will need a connector kit with plastic housings and terminals to adapt the TI harness to the forward engine harness, those connectors and terminals as shown in the AIM. You may already have that as part of your kit.

Basically, you connect the Ign feed to the TI harness and connect the production wire from the Solenoid R terminal to the TI harness. You have to make a few simple cuts and add terminals.

Below is a photo with some info that may clear up any AIM confusion. I was a bit confused when I did my first.
The other photo is just a close-up of the Ign connector and TI connector.

Thanks Rich and Clem and John. That's the pic I was looking for. I remember you posting it some time back but I couldn't find it. The "terminal and connector kit" you refer to...................was it from Lectric Limited and part #VTR6667CK TRANSISTOR IGNITION CONVERSION KIT, all (includes all terminals, connectors, & instructions as used by factory to convert Engine Harness and Dash Harness to accept transistor ignition. Included with Transistor Ignition Auxiliary Harness.) ? As always, thanks to you guys for your help.

Yes that's the one from LL. Mine came from M&H. I see LL has a nice set of instructions too.....

I wish I had that then. I didn't read it all but looks like a good reference.

you can do this and save a lot of $$$ and work. http://www.lindertech.com/bhrs/chev_..._elec_conv.htm you can also just use a corvette TI distributor to fire the HEI module

yes, and it would be superior to K66 TI, but alas it would not BE K66 TI.

I used rich5962 photos to help guide my installation of a new TI harness to my stock wiring harness and they were great. The photos along with the schematic were pretty much all I needed. It is a little un-nerving as I hate cutting a harness but it wasn't as big an issue as it might seem to be at first.
