Default 66 power steering pump

With the engine out, I disconnected the power steering lines from the pump thinking I'd clean it up as well. With 70K on this system, now I'm leaning towards having the pump rebuilt. Any thoughts on who to send it to? If I go that far, I'll replace the hoses as well. Classic scope creep.

I take it that you have your original pump. Is your pump leaking fluid or making noise, is your pulley shaft sloppy, is your pulley bent? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it. But if you must rebuild it yourself, you can buy a rebuild seal kit for about $15.00 on Ebay.
Power steering pumps for your car are really simple to assemble. Make sure you have your service manual showing the assembly of the pump.
The hard part of the dis-assembly is trying not to damage the can (part where you pour your fluid in). I use a rubber mallet to tap lightly on the can for dis-assembly after fastener removal.
The pump is secured in vise with rubber or plastic jaws.
Don't lose any of the small veins in the dis-assembly.
Tools needed:
1. Standard socket set.
2. Rubber or plastic jawed vise.
3. Rubber mallet.
4. Seal kit.
5. Service manual.
6. Clean cloth.
7. Teflon tape for thread sealing in re-assembly.
8. Clean working area.
If you feel that you are not qualified, send the pump to a re-builder.

Thanks wonderful. I haven't had any issues with it. No leaking, noise or wobbly bent parts. I was thinking preemptively; as long as it's out to do it. As with the fuel and water pumps. I have both the service and overhaul manuals but never having done it, I'm hesitant. It's filthy and while cleaning it and flipping it around, I did notice fluid coming out where the fill tube meets the can. That joint doesn't look like it was intended to be leak-proof if inverted. If I decide to rebuild it, who could you recommend?

Hello,
I would go to your local parts dealer and ask them to get your pump rebuilt. If you take your pump for re-building, usually the pump is exchanged with re-built unit which will not look like your pump. That leak between the fill tube and the can has to be brazed by a welder. You have to take the pump apart.
I deal with Corvette Central, they should get your pump re-built.
