1967 4 speed, speedometer needle bouncing. I am thinking is is the cable and planing on replacing it, it is the original one. When looking at the different vendors the length is 69 to 72 inches.
Does anyone know the correct length?
Thanks
Dave
Before you replace it I would try to clean it out and put some new lube in it. I am sure John Z has a answer if you do a search.
Could save some dough and if that's all it needs you're better off than replacing it with some aftermarket POS that's made in.... well you know and, as mentioned, do the search to be sure to lube it correctly.
Maybe I will try to lube it. It looks like I could pull it out from the top and clean and lube. My frost thought was to replace it because a new one is only 20 to 30 dollars. I did lube in 5 years ago and it helped but still bounced a little.

Don't over-tighten the nut at the speedometer housing and if it still flutters, back off the nut a bit (about a 1/4 turn at a time) and see if that helps.
I think the correct length for the 65-67 speedo cable is either 70" or 71", but it really doesn't make much difference. Any cable between 69" and 72" will work, and once it's installed, nobody is ever going to measure it or be able to tell the difference. One a little bit longer, will probably be a little easier to install.
