I am trying to get the temp sender out of the intake manifold and it is not budging. I tried the correct socket and wrencjh size but it started to shear off the brass slightly. Would it help if I applied heat? Cold? Any thoughts would be appreciated. It appears that it was put on with teflon tape or some other form of white sealant which may be making it worse.
Hey Sixtyseven,
Just a few minor suggestions. 1) are you using a 6 point socket?
a 12 point will let you down everytime!, 2) spray the fitting with WD-40 OR
Liquid Wrench to attempt to penetrate the threads. 3) Try tightening first
4)heating the intake manifold might help. If the engine is operable and in the car. Try just running the engine to heat it up first. 5) Go with a longer handle for some leverage on the socket (6 Point) 6) if it does round off you can always try say an 18" stilsen wrench assuming you won't reuse the
sender. 7) Lastly if it does break off, Fear Not! a large "easy out" can probably get the stuck portion out and you can probably sucessfully
drill out the stuck portion and retap the 3/4" threads, just be sure to use
the proper drill size or smaller for the 3/4" tap. I hope this helps!

Shawn- Thanks- I will try all of your suggestions tomorrow. It was supposed to be the last of many projects today and I slated about 5 minutes for the
R and R. I won't be re-using the sender so I can afford to be "medieval" with it if necessary.
