I know this may sound like a stupid question but I am re=assembling my dash and don't remember the assembly order for the ignition key. Does anybody have pics or a listing of the assembly order .
My biggest concern is the two small rings that attach to the key switch from the front side of the cluster. Which one goes on first and one of them has a little tip that protrudes. Does that face in or out? Thank you

The threaded end goes in from the back side and then you screw on the ignition bezel. Then with the key in the ignition lock turned to the accessory position it just pops in.

I realize that. I am questioning the position of the two thin rings . Does one go on the threads before it is inserted from the rear and the other on the front before you screw on the bezel? I can"t see why they would both go on the front

Never heard of such things - got a photo? Is it a Service replacement ignition switch?

It probably is a replacement switch. The parts in question are two stainless washerlike parts. Each has a flat part of the circle to coincide with the key cylinder. I am thinking that one goes on the cylinder to set the depth that it will go thru the cluster and the other goes on outside of the cluster prior to inserting key and ferral. Not good with pics. I have searched this forum, the AIM and the Shop Manual. can't find them, I am also looking for a picture of how to install the brackets to support the steering column.

An original Delco switch will have the last three digits of the GM part number cast into the metal part of the switch. Never saw washer used of original Delco switches.
