Sitting at McDonalds waiting for a toe truck for my 1961 Corvette.
My guess is the fuel pump died.
beware that you might have a faulty sending unit. just a couple days ago I picked up my car after it had been in a shop for nearly a year. I always keep my tank nearly full, but when I picked it up the gas gauge showed the tank to be a quarter full. I travelled two miles and car died. tank was bone dry.
Nope, not it. It was acting funny earlier today. A little hesitation occasionally. I filled the tank while on errands and then got on I-95. After a mile, the top speed with the pedal floored was 45 MPH. I got off at the next exit and I could not get over 30 MPH. I barely got off the road into McDonalds parking lot before it completely quit.
Funny thing, when I went around a corner or curve, I had complete power.
Now, it won't start. I am guessing no gas is getting to the engine.
Yep, weather is good and I waited most of the time inside the a/c at McDonald's. Car is now at my mechanics and I am sitting under a shady tree waiting for a ride home. It could have been much worse. I could have been stuck on the side of the interstate in a rainstorm.

Been there, done that. on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami in 1971 driving a brand new Vega GT home from the dealer. Only had 8 miles on the odo. It was 9:00 pm and pouring rain. I was NOT happy. No cell phones back then. Eventually a police officer stopped. We told him the story, he radioed the dealership, told them to get someone out to us, and waited with us until help arrived.
