Ask him "How's the birdcage?" If he says "Huh?" or "What's that?" he's likely not a long-time owner of this car, probably just a speculator private party who's clueless about old 'Vettes.
I know of just an SWC body (with all the one-year-only trim) that went for $35K not too long ago as the basis for a restomod.
Looks like all the split trim is still there. It's worth 35-40 all day long, probably more at this point since there's a ton of demand for these splits as projects.
Ragtop00, my fellow Michigander, thank you for posting this. I was able to buy this car this morning for considerably less than the asking price. The car has been sitting well over 30 years, the body was straight as an arrow and after climbing around for over an hour I don't believe it was ever hit, anywhere. Rust free bird cage and just surface rust on the chassis. The original bonding strips were viable across the car, it has only been painted once, over the original white. The gentleman was selling it to settle the estate of his uncle whom owned it. It really goes to show you that chasing these leads down can be worthwhile even when they are asking exorbitant prices.
Next time you are in the Saginaw area shout out, I owe you a beer. Thanks, Brian

Great news Brian! Now let's see a bunch of before pics like I did on my 62. I'm sure you'll have it done for Dream Cruise so we'll see you there!
Mike
Mike, Not the best photos but none the less, the parts you see missing are there just not on the car. I hate to use the term "barn find" however this time it is appropriate. It was sitting in a barn on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere. Other than the wrong hubcaps, engine, and gas cap, everything else appeared correct. The interior was originally red but apparently he began to dye it black. We even found the engine stainless in the barn.
Yes, we should connect at the dream cruise, but not with this car, this will take a lot more time than that. I will bring my 58. Brian
