Hey all,

What items should be on the body of a C1 when it is painted? This is a body off full paint job.

The drip rails on the front of the door opening for example. On or fit after paint?

Hinges?

Thanks.

My opinion is that you will get a much nicer looking paint job with everything removed from the body, remove anything that is bolted or screwed on, all body panels (hood, trunk, soft top lid, doors). Leave the hinges attached to the doors.

Agree with Charles,

but just a FYI the gutters on the door hinge pillars were on before paint originally. You could also leave them off, paint separately and paint the Phillips head screws later. I've done that. But the caulking may show if too much applied. Personally I like them on before paint.

Trunk, hood, doors and decklid were originally on before paint so the attach bolts were body color. Again, you can touch up the bolts later if you want the original look.
