Can one replace the "snubber" rubber busing thing without taking the rear end punkin out? Car in question is '66 and has that "thump" sound when shifting and letting out clutch in normal driving conditions.
I've searched and seen the rubber parts and discussion about poly vs rubber but can't find detailed description of replacement.
Thanks
PS. I may not be using the right terminology for the parts, sorry.
No need for any major removals, you just have to have the snubber bracket pried downward to replace the parts. I went with rubber when I swapped mine out.

Vette65te is right, not a bad job.
I found that when replacing it, my wife could get here hands in to put the hardware in place.
I also found out something interesting on my vin number 05xx (don't remember the vin) .
It has a early differential (Dana?) which was later superseded by another manufacturers. With this rear you can not pull the 2 rear bolts to drop down the snubber bracker bracket.

Hi, I just did a complete rear end job, the real problem is getting a wrench on the bolt that holds the rubber bushing, it will turn when you try to loosen nut. It is not a problem tighting with new rubber. Take out bracket bolts first, to give you room to slide a 5/8 closed end wrench on to bolt, and pray as you loosen nut.
Jack. Ps get rubber bushing , comes in two parts, get new bolt/nut and washer kit

Just installed new kit in friends 63, driveline was out, so I removed the mounting bolt and then used a short pry bar with small curve on the end, catching the lip on the front of the bracket and the crossmember as a fulcrum point, and a small floor jack on the other end of the pry bar, a couple pumps on the jack was enough to pry down the bracket enough to get the new rubber bushing in.
