That's correct. There's no sticker on the air cleaner. They should be on the valve covers.

Big blocks got the air cleaner cubic inch/horsepower labels starting in 65, but small blocks didn't use the air cleaner labels until 1967.

Prior to 67, small blocks used water soluble horsepower decals, on the sides of the valve covers. On engines of 300 hp or less, a label was placed on the top of the valve cover, that listed the cubic inches, while engines over 300 hp, only got the hp decal.

The ones pictured above look to be foil labels, not decals. Chevrolet never used the foil labels for horsepower, but many people prefer them, because they're much more durable.

'63-'65, the base engine was 250 hp and like you say, got no hp decal, only the cubic inch. Since the base engine in '66-'67 was the 300, it may have followed that same format.

There are many out there that will argue this point.

'66 300hp got nothing on the air cleaner; just on the valve covers. '67 300hp only got a label on the air cleaner, and nothing on the valve covers ('67 had a one-year-only script valve cover).

Picky, picky. Yeah, they're the Mylar foil type. I don't have my car judged and got tried of replacing decals.

For cruising around town any of the SB will do you just fine If you like a little more get it and go then the L79 327/350 and L76 327/365 is what you want but those engines are in demand so you will pay for it
