I guess some of us who still must roll around on the ground/floor when doing under car work use various things including old blankets. I found a source for used furniture packing blankets. As I was returning my rental truck to U-Haul, the shop man was throwing out used, slightly dirty blankets. I asked if I could have one or two, YES you can. I now have two nice clean blankets for use in the garage. Check with your local U-HAUL location for freebees. Dennis
I'm dedicated to my padded creeper. Have to get the car up in the air a few additional inches but don't know what I would do without it. I think I could take a nap on it. It's also good aerobic exercise getting down and up again on it 50 or 60 times in a morning.
Harbor Freight has those blankets cheap - like under $10. They're clean, new and cheap enough to chuck when they get crappy. They also make a "creeper pad" that's like $24 and it's one of the greatest tools I've ever purchased!
I have gotten into the habit of going to a windshield shop and getting large sheets of windshield packaging cardboard for under the car, As Hitch states - they are great for sliding around on under the car. A busy windshield shop will be more than happy if you take some. They usually have a large recycle bin overflowing. I actually don't used my good quality creeper as much anymore.
I got a bunch of moving blankets years back when a not too bright moving crew left a pile of them at my house. They are the good ones, heavy duty, real cloth, not that cheap, lightweight polyester material. I have a couple I use under or around the cars, and one that I keep extra-clean and use it as a fender pad. Great to have around.
Oh, and they make good beach blankets as well. LOL

Only problem with a creeper is when you need to grunt down on a big bolt or other component, you roll. Cardboard has slideability and is good! Dennis
A bigger problem is that those cheesy creeper wheels can grab some flesh or hair and go medieval on your azz.... I have two quality creepers and they haven't seen the underside of a car since I've installed my lift
