Default Lower Ignition Shielding Etc.

Even though my 60 is not matching numbers I am on the final stages of trying to make it look as original as possible with my limited talents, so here's the question, on C1"s if you had a radio I assume you would have had the lower ignition shielding??? and if so would you have also had spark plug heat shields installed as well? Thanks

Thanks Frankie, not exactly what I wanted to hear cuz that's a lot of stuff down there but if that's the way it was, that's the way it is.

The spark plug shields are to protect the plug wires from the hot exhaust manifold -- nothing to do with the radio. If the car was originally equipped with a radio then it would have ALL the shielding Top, Vertical and Horizontal along with all the appropriate capacitors for noise suppression...

Right now I have no shielding at all, if I were to only add the lower ignition shielding and not the spark plug heat shields would that cause any more problems than not having either one? In other words if I only wanted to add one or the other but not both which would be the best way to go, or maybe just leave it without either?

Add the heat shields and related plug wire clips assuming you are going to get the correct length spark plug wires and route them properly. The AIM has a good diagram of the proper routing and related hardware. They will save your wires from getting fried. The shielding is more cosmetic these days with the new Solid state radios and many people leave it off. Pilot Dan
