Default C2 ? C3 ?

While we are finding egregious errors regarding Corvettes in the media, how about the headline in the brand-new issue of American Car Collector?

Wonder how many "Cutaway C3" emails they have received so far?

Research. A basic requirement in reporting correct information. If you're not knowledgeable on the topic in this case Corvettes leave the article to someone who is.

A magazine named "American Car Collector" making that error should turn a lot of editorial faces red.

Help me out... what "angle" causes them to misidentify the car in the headline?

Maybe it wasn't misidentified. It could have been a typo.

How could it be a mistake? The magazine used to be called "Corvette Market Letter", after all.

A typo is a distinct possibility. Having worked in advertising at one point, it's amazing how easy it is to miss something like that, especially in a headline. Somehow, when proofreading it's just easier to miss typos in headlines. Something as stupid as the C3 instead of C2, could be easy to overlook.

It's also quite possible that the writer didn't know what they were talking about. Just because someone writes for a magazine, or talks on a TV show, doesn't mean they're an expert on a particular car, or any car for that matter. All anyone has to do is watch one of the many automobile restoration shows, or a Mecum or Barrett-Jackson broadcast, to realize that most of the so called experts out there, have no idea what they're talking about.

Of course if people just called a 65 Corvette, a 65, instead of having to identify them as a C-something, this wouldn't be an issue.
