You will find most of them are for radio noise suppression and yes, the number and location is printed in the section on the radio option in your AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual)...
The capacitors can vary a little by year, but generally there are 9 capacitors on a mid year.
Under hood they include one each on the coil bracket (327's & 427/390 w/o TI), blower motor, voltage regulator, and alternator. Under the dash, there's one on the brake light switch, and one on the directional flasher. Finally, there are three on the back side of the dash cluster; one on the amp gauge, one behind the ignition switch and one for the emergency brake lamp.
