Thanks for all the repllies! Guys, I'm pretty sure I have moved beyond the Mallory Unilite issue. See post #17. Since then, I turned the key and ZERO happened. Now I won't know about the replacement effort. I'm now going down another path. Somehow as I did the original troubleshooting, something happened, and the direct result is ZERO as I turn the key. Tomorrow I will put in a bypass #10 red wire. It will bypass the solded joint I mentioned in post 17 and another that is in the line. Any body got any ideas? Dennis
Update! It looks like I have a break somewhere along the #10 wire path which includes the alternator, starter and voltage regulator. Tomorrow I will test in stages to each component listed above. Ultimately I may be putting in a new engine compartment wire harness. Dennis
There is a VERY interesting article in this months NCRS Restorer magazine about a C2 owner chasing a similar problem for weeks and it turned out to be his distributor hold down clamp not.providing a good enough ground for his ignition system. His symptoms were very similar.
I have to quit agreeing with you all the time but this happen when I took dad for a ride in the country.
I had some alligator clips jumper and got us home took distributor apart found screw loose on plate inside distributor.
More news! Ordered a new Lectric Limited engine bay harness. While doing the previous testing I'm sure the movement of the wires contributed to the dead issue. The new harness is a thing of beauty. It also exposed a new issue in the old harness. The fusable links at the regulator were all missing and that must be connected (no pun intended) to the two #10 wire splices I found. I removed the hood, but working under the nose upside down with a mirror is so much fun. Back at it tomorrow. Dennis

Lectric Limited has a number to call them with issue's
Who 'ya gonna call?......Lectric Limited Ghost busters! I feel that my garage was the scene of the sequel too Ghost Busters. The new harness is installed and my car starts and runs! No smoke or funny sounds. Wet weather has held me back from a full blown test drive, but the ghost is gone I feel. All done with the help of my friend and fellow Vette owner Bob (bob65red) for extra hands and Dennis (Midyear) for his electrical expertise. Weather permitting I'll be going to PA tomorrow for the Big Rig show at Carlisle. Dennis

The Ghost is gone! Rolled about 250 miles today up to the Big Rig Show at Carlisle and then some. Ran better than ever. Cruised at 2800rpm about 64 mph and got 16.8 mpg. All my lights are brighter including the dash lights. That sweet feeling and sound are back. Corvettes @ Carlisle, here I come. Dennis
