There appears to be a switch for a glove box light, but my car doesn't have a working light. There is no opening in the box liner for a light. Is there a bulb behind the switch itself?

 

Yes, the bulb is located in the switch itself. There's only a hole in the liner that the hot wire runs through and then connects to the switch. The switch fits in the hole in the steel glove box frame. You should have an orange or black and orange wire somewhere behind the glove box.
