Before I order, will this radiator work for my car?

Why are you ordering a new one?

The reason I ask is that I recently purchased a '65 C2 and I thought it needed one, as well, since the temp gauge would sometimes get to the 220-230 mark.

I did some research on the forum, bought a IR gun, started taking temps from thermostat housing, corners of the radiator, hoses, etc... and all were showing a LOT cooler temps than the gauge... 30* or more cooler!

So, yesterday I went and bought a new 180* thermostat, Wells TU5 temp sender and now the gauge and IR gun are showing the same temps of ~185-190 after 25-30 minutes of just idling in the garage.

Cost was under $45 for the IR gun, thermostat and Temp sensor.

He wants a replacement because the one that is in the car is not original aluminum or correct to be judged.

Then yes he needs the model 941. And ask them to date code it for you.

If after checking all temps with a IR gun and you determine that a new radiator is needed, I think just about everyone here on this forum will agree that the DeWitts 941 is probably the best replacement radiator on the planet for your application...it certainly was for me

Excuse me for being a layman, but what would the date code read? Does it differ depending on my markings on my car? If so, what do I tell him?

Date codes go from the letter A for Janurary B for February and so forth. The letter I was not used. Then the year. Just tell them the build date and they will stamp it correctly

Working from memory here as i am on my phone and don't have access to the data we assembled, but IIRC your car was assembled on June 15 or 16, 1965, the engine on 6/08/65 and the body on 6/07/65.

My understanding is that the date code for a Harrison radiator should predate the car by a couple of months or so. Beyond that it's kinda - "pick a date, any date" - as long as it's not a Saturday or Sunday...........

Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members here can chime in with more detail, like the 1965 judging standards.

It's only a month code and year. If his car was built in June Then you want E5
