In the 30 some years of doing carburetors I have never come across this before.
If you remember I was fouling the two front plugs on my 283. I purchased the set up used but in excellent condition.
Long story short, here is a picture of the WRONG throttle plates installed in the front carb exposing the transfer slots even with the throttle plates completely closed. This allowed too much fuel at idle and kept fouling the plugs. This problem has plaqued me since the beginning of summer. I can now enjoy the car. I installed the correct plates this weekend and the car runs great. :D :D
This is a classic Bubba!
Plainside,
I have been looking for a close up picture of the front fender emblem like on your car. I have seen it in pictures but not a close shot. Is it red, white, and blue? and what is writen in the center? thanks
By the way, there is a nice article in Corvette Magazine on the Gulf Oil 61 Corvette race car driven by Yenko and D Thompson.
