Default Headlite question

'65/327/300.......Does the dimmer switch have anything to do with sending power to the low beams? All hi beams work but No low. Bulbs are good. New light switch. Don't know if they ever worked as I just drove it at night for the first time.

The dimmer switch handles ALL power to the headlights - power goes from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch when you pull the **** out all the way, and the dimmer switch then determines whether the headlight harness gets low-beam power (tan wire) or high-beam power (light green wire).

And on high beam, all four lights should be on.

Your problem should be one of three places: The firewall connector plug (tan wire) under the master cylinder (the one closest to the fender), the tan wire connection at the dimmer switch, or the connector on the driver's side headlight plug just where the tan wire splits and goes to both sides. Measure for 12v on the tan wire on the dimmer, if it's there, measure for 12v on the tan wire on the firewall connector, if it's there measure on the driver's side connector on the tan wire where it is doubled and feeds both sides. It will be missing somewhere on the tan wire. You do have the double filament bulbs in the low beam spots, right? The brights are single filament, the dims are dual filament and light up on both bright and dim with different filaments.

PROBLEM SOLVED! Gentlemen, thank you so much for your help. As always, my electrical troubleshooting is suspect and I ALWAYS start from the wrong end. (I started at the bulb) When John mentioned that ALL the power goes thru the dimmer switch, I reversed direction and laid the carpet back. Hey...that plug is half off.....Push it back on!
LIGHTS...YES! This problem was probably caused by "ME", as I was under that dash more times than I want to count removing my shaky clutch pedal for a re-weld.
Again, thank you fellas...........zeeker
